Weather forecasts are very important for sailors: a sunny day and a 10-15 mph wind and we are happy but at Whitemere the wind can be tricky and while summer Highs are associated with sunny days they often come with little wind. In the longer term the Climate Change modelers predict bigger Highs (no wind) and more intense Lows (too much wind) so we may have to get used to sailing at the two extremes!

The club is considering installing its own webcam and weather station that you will be able to access over the web. A lot of clubs have these linked to their websites and a good example can be found on the Isle of Sheppy Sailing Club website: Isle of Sheppy Weather Station.

We think a system like this may encourage more members to come down for a sail - as well as avoiding disappointment and wasted journeys - unfortunately the weather in Shrewsbury or Oswestry can be very different to the weather at Whitemere!
